Junior Storage Administrator

Ariadne is currently searching for a Junior Storage Administrator to provide support to the National Institutes of Health (NIH).  This opportunity is a permanent, full-time position with Ariadne and it is on-site in Bethesda, Maryland.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage enterprise backups using CommVault.
  • Support and maintain multi-petabyte-scale disk storage systems including, but not limited to Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS).
  • Monitor storage systems 24/7; provide information on capacity, data storage, system utilization, etc.; report issues and concerns.
  • Operate and maintain large storage arrays: EMC Isilon, VNX, EMC UNITY, DDN GridScaler, Nexenta.
  • Manage SMB, and NFS shares on EMC Isilon and Nexenta in support of general and scientific storage for active and disaster recovery/failover replication sites.
  • Support near-time data replication to disaster recovery/failover sites using Recover Point.
  • Monitor storage hardware daily and make sure any issues are rectified on a timely manner.
  • Work with all storage vendors to make sure all warranty and licenses are up to date; report to customer if there are any soon to expire licenses and contracts.
Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related business, scientific, or technical discipline
  • Administration experience supporting Windows, Mac, and Linux systems in a complex research-based 24/7 enterprise environment with demonstrated ability to analyze problems and propose multiple alternative solutions
  • Knowledge and experience using the CommVault enterprise backup tool, including managing CommVault master and media agents, monitoring daily backup jobs and clients, adding and removing backup clients, installing client agents, and restoring and recovering clients using the 1-Touch tool.
  • Knowledge and experience in maintaining storage hardware for EMC Isilon, VNX, Nexenta, DDN and Recover Point to include replacing failed hardware units on all the storage systems listed.
  • Experience with setting users Windows share permissions, troubleshoot any permission issues users are experiencing and rectify problems as needed.  
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service in managing user facing tasks such as data transfers, restores, and permissions management
  • Applicable certifications to demonstrate technical competencies
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing requirements with a flexible and creative approach to brainstorming, troubleshooting, and problem solving
  • Ability to effectively and confidently communicate – in writing and presentations – complex topics and procedures with team members and all levels of customer stakeholders
  • Must meet all requirements for obtaining and maintaining a Public Trust Clearance
